The City of Puyallup has seven (7) parklets that will be available for business (restaurant/food service) use via a lottery selection system. The lottery drawing will take place Tuesday, March 30th. Randomly selected applicants will be notified immediately.
ENTRIES MUST BE RECEIVED BY TUESDAY, MARCH 30TH AT 9:00AM.
Each parklet consists of two sections totaling 16 feet in length; the equivalent of one (1) street-side parking space.
Businesses must be located in the downtown core.
Priority will be given to businesses with no off-street parking lot.
Parklets cannot be longer than 16 feet.
Only two (2) parklets will be allowed per city block face (maximum of 4 per city block).
Parklet should be primarily located in front of the applicant business. If the parklet will encroach upon a neighboring business' frontage, permission from said business must be obtained by the applicant. Applicant will be required to provide proof.
Only pre-engineered tents and structures will be allowed on the parklets through June 15th. Any sidewalls installed on the parklets must be soft-sided, clear plastic tarp style material. No hard plastic or site built structures will be allowed. Beginning June 16th, through the summer months, sidewalls shall be removed completely - sun umbrellas will be permitted.
Staff will perform a review of each applicant's location to ensure safety prior to lottery drawing. Any business location that is deemed unsafe or does not have sufficient space for a parklet as set forth in the parklet pilot program, will be removed from the lottery pool.
